Things to do: Visit Palm Beach in the Northern Beaches, Sydney

This resource is brought to you by Many Cove Podiatry, the Northern Beaches trusted podiatrist.

Palm Beach in Australia is one of the most popular suburbs of Sydney located in the region of the Northern Beaches. Neighboured by water bodies on three sides; the Pacific Ocean, which lies to the east, Pittwater to the west, and the Broken Bay on the northern side, Palm Beach boasts of small cottages, lovely beaches, and jaw-dropping parks and ocean views. From secret garden to whale watching to finding sweet Instagrammable spots and other hidden gems, Palm Beach got you covered.

Hike Up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse

Mended by the charming Hawkesbury Sandstone at Barrenjoey Head on the outer reaches of suburban Sydney, the Barrenjoey Lighthouse was the third light on the hill. This gorgeous lighthouse was designed by James Barnett and completed in 1881 to be one of the best hiking tracks in the Barrenjoey Headland placed on the northernmost part of Palm Beach.

The most popular walking trails that you can take are the access track (longer but relatively easier) and the smuggler’s track (short track but tough), both leading you to the top of the hill, which is the Barrenjoey Lighthouse with its breath-taking views of the ocean.

Once you reach the lighthouse and gaze across Pittwater to the west, you will be able to spot the West Head lookout, another gorgeous place to visit during your stay. From the northernmost point of Palm Beach, you can also see a part of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Stroll the Northern Beaches and Ku-ring-gai National Park

A favorite of hikers, campers, nature, and adventure seekers, Ku-ring-gai Chase is Australia’s second national park. The quiet creeks, the lush rainforest heaven, and mountain passes are enough to make you forget you’re still within Sydney city limits. Set out in search of Sydney’s Aboriginal heritage as you explore the National Park; relish the gorgeous villas and cottages along the Whale Beach and journey with the Manly ferry back to Circular Quay.

In Palm Beach, a tour can take you to Home and Away filming locations like Alfs Bait Shop and Summer Bay Surf Club. The tour will be captivating as you will hear lots of inside facts about the local area.

Kick Start Your Day at The Boathouse

The Boathouse Palm Beach is one of the best restaurants in Palm Beach. Ideally located by the side of the beach, the local is almost always crowded by locals who piously drop in to relish the food and even with tourists who head here because of its striking location.

If you’re jaded by eating processed food and just want to grab something that’s a little more healthy, the Boathouse is your place. They have got some of the tastiest fruit boards, veggies bowls, and French croissants, making it the perfect place to recharge or start your day.

Learn to Ride the Waves at the Kiddies Corner, Palm Beach

If you’ve always longed to find out what it feels like to surf, you can give it a try at Palm Beach! At the southern end of the beach, Kiddies Corner is one of the most visited and safest spots to ride the waves and swim. Note that Kiddies Corner is located at the southern end of Ocean Road.

The beach is constantly patrolled during the warmer months, which means you can safely dive in the 50-meter pool and soak up the views of Barrenjoey Longhouse in the distance. Such an inspiring place.

More experienced “wave riders” will enjoy the northern and the center part of the beach. If you’re all about the ocean experience, you can also hire boards at Beach Without Sand.
